The four types of influencers (and what each can charge)
Nano, micro, macro, mega — where the follower-count lines are drawn, how engagement changes at each tier, and what brands expect to pay each type.

Start freeMarketers sort creators into four tiers. Knowing which one you're in matters because it changes what brands expect from you — and what you can charge.
Nano: 1,000–10,000 followers
The highest engagement rates of any tier (often 5%+), because the audience genuinely knows the creator. Brands use nanos for authentic word-of-mouth and gifted collaborations. Typical pricing: free product to $100 per post, sometimes more for niche expertise. Your media kit at this tier should lead with engagement rate and audience trust, not reach.
Micro: 10,000–100,000 followers
The sweet spot for most brand deals: real reach with engagement still around 2–4%. Typical pricing: $100–$1,000 per post depending on niche and format. This is where a professional media kit starts paying for itself — brands comparing five micro creators pick the one who makes their job easiest.
Macro: 100,000–1,000,000 followers
Professional territory. Engagement drops (1–2% is normal) but reach is meaningful and production quality is expected. Typical pricing: $1,000–$10,000+ per post. At this tier brands ask about audience demographics by country, past campaign results and usage rights — your kit needs all of it.
Mega: 1,000,000+ followers
Celebrity reach, celebrity prices ($10,000 and far beyond), and usually an agent handling the deal. Engagement is the lowest of any tier, so mega creators sell awareness, not conversion.
The pattern that matters for your rate card
As follower count goes up, engagement rate goes down — and brands know it. That's why a nano with 7% engagement can win deals a macro loses: the pitch is different, not worse. Whatever tier you're in, your media kit should show the numbers that make YOUR tier look strong. Not sure what to charge?
